You cannot freeze cucumber

Cucumber is not suitable for freezing. Foods with high water content, like lettuce and cucumber, do not freeze well.

Eating the whole food

There is no need to peel a cucumber or remove the seeds. Just wash before use.

Be fabulous with leftovers

You can pickle leftover cucumber in just 15 minutes. Mix ribbons or slices with equal measures of caster sugar and white wine vinegar along with your favourite herbs (dill is particularly good) or spices. This is delicious with fish or for sandwiches.

Buying tips

Buy the right size for your needs. If you don’t or won’t get through a standard-sized cucumber in time, try a smaller one (sometimes called a ‘midi’ cucumber) - if available.
