JIGSO is a children’s charity working in Wales. They wanted to spread the word on food waste within their community.

Our Local Partnership Advisor in the South West Wales delivered a Cascade Training session to the JIGSO staff team, who then went on to run a number of ‘satellite sessions’ around Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

Food waste reduction is now central to their sessions and they use our interactive tools to deliver the advice. Sessions have also been held at a number of support groups at JIGSO, including their Breastfeeding and Postnatal support group.

Local Assembly members were invited to the summer’s St Dogmaels satellite session to hear how families had been using the tips to save their food. Linda Grace, Chair of the trustees, now freezes her surplus milk when at home and staff members at the JIGSO office in the centre of the town have been doing the same.

A new budgeting course

Since then, the team has been hard at work designing a practical cooking and budgeting course for parents with the help of Love Food Hate Waste. The time saving opportunities have been particularly important to parents and staff alike.
