Our tips for Chicken

  • Delicious chicken stock

    Submitted by Liz, Leeds

If you have roasted a chicken, freeze the carcass. Once you have two or three, boil them up for a couple of hours with two or three pints of water, a few chopped celery stalks, onions, carrots, a bunch of parsley and bay leaf to make chicken stock. Measure into pint portions and freeze them to be used whenever you need it.

  • Leftovers

    Submitted by Sylvia Bailey, Telford

Freeze any meat left over from a roast, like beef, pork and lamb to use at a later date in a tasty curry.

  • Using Chicken Carcass

    Submitted by David Wall, Shaftesbury

After using all the meat from a chicken, boil the carcass or bones in water. Strip any last remaining meat and use the water and meat as stock. Use to make soups, or stews etc.

  • Quick Cook

Cut chicken breasts into strips before freezing, open freeze, then pack into bags, they can be quickly added to stir fries and cooked from frozen.
