When you've leftover tomato paste from an opened tin, spoon the paste into an ice cube tray and freeze. Then you can use a cube when needed in sauces or soup.
If like me you love real porridge but hate washing the pan this is what I do - make a big saucepan of porridge, enough for a good few portions, and then divide it up and store in plastic containers in the fridge. In the mornings you can just pop it in the microwave, add your favourite topping and eat it straight from the tub! It keeps in the fridge for several days and even tastes good cold!
I buy the £1 bowls of mushrooms and peppers from the market. Now as there are only two of us I chop them all up put them into small amounts and put them straight into the freezer. When cooking a Spag Bol they get thrown straight in the frying pan, Also good when you find mushrooms cheap in the supermarket!
