Advertising & Sponsorship Terms and Conditions for

1. Background

1.1 Love Food Hate Waste (LFHW), a public focused initiative, aims to raise awareness of the environmental and economic impact of food waste and to help the public by providing recipes for using up leftovers and handy tips and advice to help all of us waste less food.

1.2 The LFHW website is packed with practical hints, tips and recipe ideas for reducing food waste. The public can also use exciting tools to help make a real difference (such as the LFHW portion planner and recipe finder for leftovers).

1.3 The LFHW website receives over 90,000 unique visitors each month looking for help and information on ways to waste less and save more.

1.4 LFHW is now able to offer new and existing partners an opportunity to advertise on or sponsor the LFHW site/features. Terms and conditions can be found below. Benefits include the association with the brand values of LFHW, becoming part of a highly credible and trusted initiative, a softer and more engaging way to communicate with the public and interacting and building closer relationships with LFHW’s audience.

1.5 LFHW is the property of the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP), a not-for-profit company established in 2000, and backed by government funding from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. WRAP works with businesses, communities and individuals to help them reap the benefits of reducing waste, develop sustainable products and use resources in an efficient way. Find out more at

2. Definitions & Interpretation

2.1 “Partner” – means any Advertiser or Sponsor authorised and approved by WRAP to participate according to these terms.

2.2 “WRAP” means the Waste and Resources Action Programme. The Terms WRAP and LFHW should be considered as the same organisation.

2.3 “Terms” means the terms and conditions set out within this document.

2.4 These Terms apply to advertising placed on, or sponsorship of, the LFHW website ( only. Any advertising or sponsorship accepted by WRAP shall be subject to the terms and conditions set within this document.

3. General Terms

3.1 Any advertising or sponsorship in no way constitutes an endorsement by Love Food Hate Waste or WRAP of that company’s products and/or services. While we accept advertising/sponsorship from a wide variety of sources, we reserve the right to reject applications we consider to be inappropriate

3.2 These Terms shall only apply when an order has been placed by a Partner and accepted by WRAP in writing. By placing an order, the Partner accepts and agrees to be bound by these Terms in full.

3.3 Any organisation/person wishing to advertise on or sponsor the LFHW website must have aims and values complementary to WRAP/LFHW (to be judged solely by WRAP).

3.4 Any content must (in WRAP’s opinion):

  • be relevant to helping individuals reduce their food waste and be useful to the target audience; and 
  • add value to, or supplement, existing content. 
  • have the same tone of voice as LFHW – positive and engaging.
  • conform to accessibility guidelines.

3.5 Adverts or sponsorship will be developed by WRAP in consultation with the Partner. WRAP will, in consultation with the Partner, determine the size, placement, and positioning of adverts.

3.6 Adverts and sponsorship will be charged at the cost to WRAP of developing the advert/sponsorship plus 30%. All profit raised (if any) from advertising/sponsorship will be used by WRAP to go towards developing and enhancing the LFHW initiative and website

3.7 Partners grant WRAP automatic permission to use advertisements and related content added to the LFHW site for WRAP marketing or promotional purposes.

3.8 Any organisation wishing to advertise on or sponsor the LFHW website will not issue any press release or make public statements about any potential relationship with WRAP/LFHW without prior written permission from WRAP.

3.9 WRAP may, without any responsibility or liability to the Partner, reject, cancel or require any Partner content/area to be amended that WRAP considers unsuitable or contrary to these Terms and remove, not print, suspend or change the position of any such content. WRAP may refuse to publish any advertisement/sponsorship arrangement for any Partner who has not paid any sums due. Whatever decision WRAP takes, the Partner will remain responsible for all outstanding charges.

3.10 The Partner shall fully indemnify WRAP against any damages occurring as a result of the Partner’s acts, omissions or contributions, or any breach of these Terms. The Partner shall be fully responsible for obtaining consents and permissions for content/images introduced by the Partner.

3.11 The Partner guarantees to WRAP that any information supplied in connection with the advertisement/sponsorship is accurate, complete, true and not misleading;

3.12 Where the Partner is an advertising agency or media buyer, the Partner guarantees that it is authorised by the advertiser/sponsor of a product or service to place the advertisement with WRAP and the Partner will compensate WRAP for any claim made by such advertiser against WRAP.

3.13 Partners must ensure that the content of their adverts comply with all applicable laws, regulations and guidelines. All claims in adverts must be adequately substantiated. Adverts must not offend users. Adverts and any offers promoted within adverts must not be false, deceptive or misleading or contain spam. Adverts must not contain or promote illegal products or services. Adverts must not violate the rights of any third parties.

3.14 WRAP shall own the copyright in all advertisements written or designed by WRAP or on WRAP’s behalf.

3.15 Payment terms and conditions shall be agreed with WRAP on a case by case basis.
