The Big Lunch is less than a month away - fancy donating a recipe?

The Big Jubilee Lunch is less than a month away and here at Love Food Hate Waste we have teamed up with the good people at The Big Lunch to offer support on how best to reduce the amount of food waste which is produced as a result of the celebrations.

The Big Jubilee Lunch is part of the Diamond Jubilee programme of events on Sunday 3 June. Led by the Eden Project and funded by the Lottery, the aim of The Big Jubilee Lunch is to encourage neighbourhoods to come together in the garden or street to share lunch and a few hours of community, friendship and fun. A record number of people are expected to get involved as part of the Diamond Jubilee Weekend celebrations.

Here's hoping the weather is rather better than the last two bank holiay weekends - surely it's got to be - hasn't it????????

We waste over 7 million tonnes and £12 billion worth of good food and drink every year in the UK just from our homes, but with a little planning, together with a few cool boxes and supply of freezer packs it’s easy for us to be well equipped for keeping our food safe, fresh and tasty for longer.

We would love to hear what resourceful recipes you are cooking up for your Big Lunch - whether you a celebrating the jubille or just simply having a few days off work - our favourite recipes will go on the Love Food Hate Waste and The Big Lunch websites.

Please send your recipe with a good photo and your name so we can credit you to

You never know you may just be on the home page of this website for bank holiday wekeend!
