Avoid waste by planning meals in advance - including how you may 'carry over' anything that is left. For example, if you don't intend to use all that broccoli you bought to go with Sunday lunch, buy a small salmon fillet. With a bit of pastry - or even a bought flan case, eh Delia? - a chunk of cheese and a couple of eggs, you will have a salmon and broccoli flan that will feed three with a salad. Lovely! And don't underestimate 'dry foods' such as dry beans and lentils, mushrooms and tinned tomatoes. Bacon keeps for ages, too.
