Growing up during the 2nd World War, during food rationing, we were the healthiest generation. There was enough food, but we ate healthy portions, with an emphasis on fresh seasonal food (nothing much was imported) and loads of home grown fruits and vegs. I had never heard of swedes and parsnips in June and July until I returned home after 40 years abroad in 1996.
