I'm 42, married, with 3 children and I also care for my mum (who lives with us) and I work full time at my home business. My parents were war generation, so I guess I grew up with this idea - Ive always cooked from scratch and with 6 of us to feed (more when anyone has friends around), I can't afford to be wasteful. I do buy free range chicken - but it does 2 - 3 meals with stocks and soups, as well as a 'main dish'. I only buy small amounts of good meat and bulk out with pulses and at least 2-3 times a week we eat veggie. Waste? Not in this house! Oh - and scraps go first to the dog, then to the cats, then to the compost if it's something none of us can do anything with!!
