Don’t keep rushing to the supermarket. Resist the social pressure to produce conventional meals every day. Explore the recesses of your cupboards and just make do with what you’ve got. Have a ‘dog’s dinner’ for a change. Pretend you’re on a desert island or living in 1945 (or 2045, who knows!). No bread? Make pancakes. Be adventurous and creative. Widen your skills base. Wait till you’re down to the last tin of tomatoes and the last packet of custard powder before you burn more petrol to get to the supermarket.
