Another method of preventing food waste is by checking the use - by date on packaging when actually buying the product. Some supermarkets sell products very near to or on the actual use by date without putting it on the reduced goods shelf. How many of us throw products in the trolley without checking the date, only to throw it unopened in the bin two days later because it's gone out of date?
