I live alone and my biggest waste is salad. All of the supermarkets only sell large packs of lettuce which will only last at the most 2 days. Consequently I am always throwing lettuce greens out. I no longer buy lettuce greens as I object to the waste. What I and other singles need are small packs of salad for one. When I'm abroad I am able to buy small amounts of different types of lettuce on a self service basis and it is weighed at the checkout and we get to use paper bags. So how about it all you supermarkets get your act together and market smaller packages or better still adopt the self service approach and provide paper bags. Paper bags are much better for keeping all vegetables and fruit fresher longer.
