We have used fruit and veg box scheme for years. As well as expanding the range of fruit and veg we eat, the box supplies the correct amount of green-grocery to last our household one week - taking out the guesswork. Also the connection we feel to this fantastic locally grown food that has been produced with love and care means we feel ashamed if we have to throw it away. The result has been that over time we have more or less eliminated fresh food waste in our house AND massively cut down on packaging.
