Is it possible that the one-stop, once a week shop encourages the shopper to overbuy in case of emergencies, therefore perishable food deteriorates and has to be discarded. Better to buy suitable canned or frozen foods for emergency use or shop more often - difficult, obviously, for those who work and have families to cater for. The present situation will, most certainly, encourage more thoughtful food shopping.
