I married very young (16) and had to learn to shop and cook. I bought cheaper cuts of meat cooked them slowly along with another dish i.e rice pudding and shopped daily and locally. I do understand that today it's not always possible but by shopping locally and buying just what you need for that day you can save an awful lot of waste and support your local shops at the same time. I have met some wonderful older ladies with oodles of tips that have saved me time, money and produced less waste. Give it ago - at least once you've got into the habit of shopping daily it becomes less of a chore and more of a delight.
