Joanne Kearney like a lot of people thought she wasn't at all wasteful, but since getting involved with Love Food Hate Waste she has learnt a few surprising things and picked up new habits along the way...Before Joanne used to find that she would buy food at the supermarket, only to return home and discover that she already had it in the fridge. She found that she was particularly over buying butter and vegetables.
"Now I always make an effort to check the fridge before I go shopping and it really makes a difference. Now I have also started to make a shopping list, rather than just buying whatever I fancy in the shops, and this has certainly reduced my food bill as I only buy only what I need.”
Checking which foods you already have, and making a list before you go shopping is an easy way of making sure you don't buy foods which will end up going to waste.
