Love Food Champions

The Love Food Champions Project was set up with our partners, the Women’s Institute, to bring together people from across the country to exchange ideas on how to make the most of their food and see if they could waste less.

Ten WI member’s volunteered to be Champions, each recruiting a group of non-WI members who were given new tasks to take home and try out each month. The impact has been amazing, the groups managed to cut their food waste by 50%, and eighty families in total have benefited from the project.  Some of the people who took part in the pilot tell us their stories here.

Love Food Hate Waste is hoping that the pilot can be rolled out more broadly, and will be developing a simple “how to” Guide for other community groups and organisations to use.  This is likely to be available from the New Year, 2009.
